Behind Prospect Capital’s Total Fiscal 2017 Dividends

Prospect Capital (PSEC) declared total dividends of $1.00 per share in fiscal 2017, which is the same as it declared in fiscal 2016. It managed to declare a quarterly dividend totaling $0.25 per share.

In all four quarters of fiscal 2017, the company declared quarterly dividends of the same amount ($0.25 per share). In fiscal 1Q18, Prospect Capital is expected to declare a quarterly dividend of $0.24 per share.

Apollo Investment (AINV) declared total dividends of $0.70 per share in fiscal 2017 and a quarterly dividend of $0.15 per share in February 2017, which was paid in April 2017.

Apollo declared a quarterly dividend of $0.15 per share in May 2017, which it paid in July 2017. For its latest distribution, it declared the same quarterly dividend ($0.15 per share) in August 2017, and this quarterly dividend will be paid in October 2017.

Dividend yield

Prospect Capital’s dividend yield stood at 14.2%. The dividend yields of its investment management peers (XLF) are as follows:

  • BlackRock Capital Investment (BKCC): 9.99%
  • Ares Capital (ARCC): 9.38%
  • Apollo Investment (AINV): 9.90%
