What Electronic Arts’ Key Metrics Indicate

International revenues fell 5.0% YoY in fiscal 3Q17
As the table below shows, international revenue for Electronic Arts (EA) accounts for 51.0% of its total revenue. North America accounts for 49.0% of its total revenue.
Revenue from EA’s international markets fell 5.0% YoY (year-over-year) from $622.0 million in fiscal 3Q16 to $588.0 million in fiscal 3Q17. Revenue from North America rose 25.0% YoY from $448.0 million to $561.0 million in the same period. The holiday season in 4Q16 drove sales in the United States (SPY) and Canada.
Revenue from consoles and PCs
Revenue from all gaming consoles such as PlayStation (SNE) and Xbox (MSFT) rose significantly from $374.0 million in fiscal 3Q15 to $463.0 million in fiscal 3Q16 and $675 million in fiscal 3Q17. Revenue from older consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 fell 59.0% YoY from $157.0 million to $65.0 million in the same period as players migrated to new consoles. Total console revenue rose 46.0% YoY in fiscal 3Q17.
Revenue from PCs (personal computers) rose significantly as well YoY, from $180.0 million in fiscal 3Q15 to $182.0 million in fiscal 3Q16 and $246 million in fiscal 3Q17. As we’ve already seen in this series, mobile revenue rose 7.0% YoY from $162.0 million to $174.0 million in the same period.
