Suncor’s Short Interest

Suncor Energy (SU) has witnessed a 34% rise in its short interest since April 2016. This indicates that the bearish sentiment for the stock is strengthening. During the same period, contrary to market sentiments, SU’s stock price has risen by 2%.

Also, in the same period, ExxonMobil’s (XOM), Chevron’s (CVX), and Royal Dutch Shell’s (RDS.A) short interest rose by 8%, 37%, and 9%, respectively. Their stock prices rose by 14%, 13%, and 17%, respectively, since April.

The PowerShares Dynamic Large Cap Value Portfolio ETF (PWV) has ~5% exposure to energy sector stocks.
