Ian Pace's Career with Deep Purple

Paice’s career took off in the late 60s when he performed with the band “MI5”, which was later renamed “The Maze”. Paice then formed the band “Deep Purple” in 1968 England. Paice has been a member of the band during its lifetime and played every one of its albums.

The band’s discography includes over 22 studio albums, 15 video albums, 45 live albums, 28 compilation albums, and over 45 singles. The band has sold over 100 million records worldwide and performed at over 30 concert tours since its inception. Paice‘s latest album with the band was 2021’s “Turning To Crime”.

Outside of the band, Paice has worked as a solo musician as well. In 2002, he released the DVD+CD. “Not for the Pros” followed by “Modern Drummer Festival 2005 (DVD)”, “Ian Paice and Lee Joe Band — Live In Belgorod 2007, Interview (DVD)”, “Paice’s Sunflower Superjam – Live at The Royal Albert Hall 2012”, and more. Further, Paice also performed with “Whitesnake” from 1979 to 1982, serving as the drummer on four of their albums.

Personal life

Born in Nottingham, England, Paice’s love for music began at an early age, and he was drawn to percussion instruments. He began playing the drums at the age of 15. He first performed professional gigs with his father's band and went on to play in other bands. He released his first album when he was 17. Paice continued to work with bands before forming Deep Purple.

Paice is a private person and keeps his personal life out of the limelight. He is married to Jackie, who is the twin sister of fellow founding band member, Jon Lord’s wife, Vickie Gibbs Lord. Jackie Paice is the founder of ‘The Sunflower Jam’, which supports charities that provide complementary care for cancer sufferers. Paice and Jacky have three children together, James, Emmy, and Calli.
