Visa: Analysts Are Bullish before Its Earnings

Visa (V) has seen three upward revisions in its target price in April. On April 10, Cowen increased its target price for Visa from $161 to $177. On April 8, Credit Suisse raised its target price for the stock from $160 to $184. On April 2, KBW raised its target price for Visa from $172 to $179. Visa is scheduled to release its quarterly results on April 24.

Among the 39 Reuters-surveyed analysts covering Visa, 36 rated it as a “buy” or “strong buy,” which indicates bullish sentiments for the stock. The other three analysts rated Visa as a “hold.” The mean target price for Visa is $167.4, which implies an upside potential of 5% from its current price. Among the 40 analysts covering MasterCard (MA), 37 rated it as a “buy” or a “strong buy.” MasterCard’s mean target price of $248.1 implies an upside of 4% from its current price. For American Express (AXP), 12 of the 28 analysts rated it as a “buy,” 15 analysts rated it as a “hold,” and one rated it as a “sell.” The company’s average target price is $119, which implies an upside potential of 7% from its current price. Among the 21 analysts covering Discover Financial Services (DFS), 14 rated it as a “buy.”
