ExxonMobil’s Beta: Is XOM Less Volatile Compared to Its Peers?

In this article, we’ll compare ExxonMobil’s (XOM) beta with those of its peers. We’ve considered the companies’ 90-day betas, which depict how much their stocks move for daily moves in the market (SPY) for 90 days.

ExxonMobil’s beta stands at 0.98 for the past 90 days. This value is lower compared to its peers’, except for Chevron (CVX) and YPF (YPF), whose 90-day betas stand at 0.91 and 0.68, respectively. Petrobras (PBR) has the highest 90-day beta of 2.53.

Other integrated energy stocks with high betas include Statoil (STO) and PetroChina (PTR). STO and PTR have betas of 1.49 and 1.56, respectively.
