Rackspace: A leader in North America and Europe
On July 31, 2015, Rackspace (RAX) announced that it had made it to the leading quadrant of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud-Enabled Managed Hosting in Europe (EFA) and North America. In North America, Rackspace was one of the two leaders in the quadrant. In Europe, Rackspace was one of the seven leaders in the quadrant.
As seen in the below chart, IBM (IBM) and CenturyLink (CTL) were placed in the visionaries quadrant, while Verizon (VZ) and CSC made it to the niche players and challengers quadrants, respectively. Gartner evaluates the players and providers based on the “completeness of their vision” as well as their ability to execute.
Managed security and compliance assistance announced
On September 29, 2015, Rackspace announced new Managed Security and Compliance offerings to assist customers in addressing data security, mitigating cyber-attacks and threats, and protecting critical business processes. This will allow Rackspace to work with businesses to develop 360-degree security solutions to address compliance requirements. Cyber security is a top priority to Rackspace and businesses around the world.
“Every day, businesses are at risk of being affected by a security threat or data breach,” said Perry Robinson, Vice President and General Manager of Managed Security at Rackspace. “These threats often occur without warning, can be directed at any part of the business, and come from anywhere in the world. Damage from malicious parties can range from lost revenue and recovery costs to potential liability costs and compliance-related fines.”
