Major content releases
In this article, we’ll discuss Activision Blizzard’s (ATVI) key strategic initiatives in terms of driving revenue growth and enhancing user engagement. ATVI is looking at several content releases to meet growing demand in the player community. This means that it will release high-quality content frequently.
Robust live operations will ensure quality delivery of content, services, and features that will drive user engagement and in-game sales. ATVI is also looking to extend popular gaming franchises to mobile, its fastest-growing platform. The company also wants to expand its reach and engagement to drive the monetization of its franchises as it builds on the early success of its esports vertical.
Growing developer head count for popular franchises
ATVI aims to focus on the popularity of its key franchises. To do this, it will grow its developer head count across the Call of Duty, Diablo, Warcraft, Overwatch, Candy Crush, and Hearthstone franchises by 20.0%, which will primarily accelerate the delivery of its content and provide opportunities for user engagement.
ATVI’s COO, Coddy Johnson, stated, “We’re organizing the expanded development teams to better support the delivery of both upfront content and live operations with more talent working on getting the games in our pipeline out to our communities, and also more resources dedicated to following up with the volume and the quality evening game content that gaming communities increasingly expect.”
While gaming franchises remain key for ATVI, the company is also investing in tech platforms and building cross-platform tools to help in terms of content delivery and increase collaborative opportunities among developer teams. ATVI hopes that these initiatives result in revenue growth and user engagement.
