Vivant Digital acquisition to boost iX business
Earlier in this series, we discussed IBM’s (IBM) recent acquisition of Vivant Digital. Vivant not only extends the company’s strategy and design expertise of its Interactive Experience (or iX) but also its presence in Australia.
iX is a part of IBM’s GBS (Global Business Services) segment, and the company noted that it posted “good growth” in 1Q17. Before Vivant Digital, IBM made several acquisitions in 2016 to boost its iX business. IBM acquired Ecx.io, Aperto, Resource/Ammirati, Bluewolf Group, and Expert Personal Shopper.

Digital features among the top ten strategic technology trends
IBM’s focus on enhancing and complementing its iX capabilities is expected to accelerate its customers’ digital transformation. This initiative is opportune as the virtual and real worlds are rapidly coalescing to create an enveloping digitally enhanced and connected environment. The chart above shows the increasing dominance of digital technology in 2018.
This explains IBM’s growing interest in the digital space. However, it is not the only company drawn to this space. In late 2016, Mirabeau was acquired by Cognizant (CTSH). Mirabeau is an Amsterdam-based digital marketing and customer experience agency.
