Some YouTubers have parlayed their YouTube fame to become successful actors or even talk show hosts. If you wonder why your favorite YouTuber is not as regular on their channel as they once used to be, then there's a good chance that they have made their way into the glamour world of acting and landed a role in some project. Some YouTubers even got themselves a television show and have been doing well. Here's a look at the YouTubers who can now be seen in comedy or cooking shows or even as late-night talk show hosts.
1. Lilly Singh
The internet sensation and one of the very first YouTubers that the world dubbed as an internet celebrity, Lily Singh Aka Superwoman gained over 14 million subscribers on YouTube. She is known for her comedy sketches which depict her Indian heritage. In less than a decade after she first began her journey on YouTube, she bagged herself a late-night show of her own, "A Little Late With Lily Singh." Sadly the show ended after two seasons with Lily Singh signing a first-look deal with Universal Television Alternative Studio to produce other new unscripted projects for the company.
2. Colleen Ballinger
Comedian Colleen Ballinger rose to stardom with her character Miranda Sings. She has more than 11 million subscribers on YouTube and another two million on her secondary channel. In 2016, she took her famous character of Miranda to the big screen with a Netflix comedy which was titled "Haters Back Off" which was one of the character's hit songs. She starred alongside her future husband on the show. However, the show ended after two seasons. The exact reason behind the show's cancellation is unknown.
3. Joey Graceffa
Joey Graceffa boasts over nine million subscribers on YouTube. He later created the "Escape The Night" reality show along with other YouTubers. "Escape The Night" is considered Youtube Premium's (then Youtube Red) longest-running series in history, earning four seasons totaling 40 episodes, and four Streamy Award wins. 4. Lucas Cruikshank
Another creator from the first lot of YouTubers. People who have followed YouTube since the early 2000s will surely recognize this hyper and high-pitched cute little boy who was called Fred on YouTube. He later launched his acting career and took his character to Nickledoen with "Fred: the Show." The show was canceled due to really low ratings and poor reviews from the critics. The show ran for a single season. He later starred as Marvin Forman for one season in the Nickelodeon comedy Marvin Marvin.
5. Liza Koshy
Liza Koshy first gained recognition on the now-shut app Vines. She was one of the Viners who later blew up on YouTube. Koshy boasts a total of 17 million subscribers on YouTube. She started acting on the Hulu series "Freakish" where she was seen as Violet Adams. The show ran for two seasons before getting canceled. She was soon seen in her own YouTube Originals show called "Liza On Demand", where she played an exaggerated version of herself and held roles of co-creator and executive producer.
6. PJ Liguori
He is known for having 1.3 million YouTube subscribers and is popular for his love for mystical creatures and filmmaking. He took it up a notch with his 2016 miniseries which was called "Oscar's Hotel for Fantastical Creatures." The series starred many puppets and costumes from Jim Henson's creature shop. All these characters were voiced by other YouTubers like Chris Kendall, Dan Howell, Phil Lester, Pewdiepie, and Mamrie Hart. Apart from the names mentioned, there were other YouTubers who made special appearances.
7. David Dobrik
Another Viner turned YouTube star David Dobrik was also Liza Koshy's boyfriend at one point in time and has over 18 million subscribers on YouTube as of 2023. He is known to appear as part of a vlog squad that lived under the same roof to make content. The squad included other YouTubers like John Stamos and Josh Peck. He later landed the starring role on the Discovery+ series called, " Discovering David Dobrik" which followed him and his friends on an adventure around the world.
8. Hannah Hart
Hannah Hart was known for cooking food on YouTube and then she bagged the viral series "My Drunk Kitchen" which made her popular back in 2011. She then went on to judge on Food Network Star in 2016 and then bagged her show called "I Hart Food." The show unfortunately lasted only six episodes. She was not only starring in the show but was the executive producer of the show. Hart also has a second channel on YouTube where she talks about life in general.
9. Grace Helbig
Grace Helbig joined YouTube in early 2007 when things were just taking off for the platform. She started with house-sitting vlogs and later opened personal channels that followed her life on a day-to-day basis. She garnered over 2 million followers on the platform and later bagged a comedy talk show of her own that was titled, "The Grace Helbig Show." The show ended after only eight episodes. Today she runs a podcast called "This Might Get Weird" alongside collaborator Mamrie Hart and is the voice of Cindy Bear in the HBO Max animated series Jellystone!
10. Rosanna Pansino
Rosanna Pansino started on YouTube in 2011 and she is mostly known for her baking. She later launched her baking series called "Nerdy Nummies" on YouTube. She has over 13 million subscribers and has two cookbooks, and also a baking line. She was also a part of the now-canceled HBO Max show, "Baketopia." Apart from the money that she gets from her cookbooks, She also earns a lot through endorsements with brands such as Nestle Toll House, Chick-fil-A, JELL-O, Spotify, and MasterCard.
