Whether you are looking for picturesque countryside sceneries or nightlife, there's a city for everyone. Lots of factors are taken into consideration when determining which cities in the world are the best to visit. Paris is yet again the best city to visit in the world, according to Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2023. Paris was followed by Dubai. Japan has also entered the top 10 list for the first time. It is mostly because of "improved developments in tourism infrastructure,” according to the report.

1. Paris, France

It's a well-known fact that Paris is one of the best cities to visit in the world, and the city saw more than 44 million tourists in 2023. Paris is also home to the most beautiful sites like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. The city is also famous for being a fashion hub and is home to some of the greatest luxury brands in the world including, Chanel and Balenciaga. The cherry on the cake is the world-famous French cuisine.

The highly conducive business environment of Dubai not only attracts businessmen from all over the world but also sees a lot of tourists every year. The Euromonitor compares 55 metrics across six key pillars—economic and business performance; tourism performance; tourism infrastructure; tourism policy and attractiveness; health and safety; and sustainability. Dubai stands out in all these sectors and has been a "magnet for both returning and first-time international tourists, as well as those seeking a stopover experience," per the report.

From stunning architecture to delicious cuisine, Madrid, one of the most picturesque cities in the world, has a lot to offer. In 2021, UNESCO gave the title, 'Landscape of Light' to a Madrid neighborhood, declaring it a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the category of Cultural Landscape. Within the boundaries of the city, you will find a range of cultural and historical treasures such as the Royal Theater and the numerous museums and art galleries.

The "Eternal City" is home to the Colosseum and is also one of the most famous cities in Europe.  The city has places like Trastevere which will instantly transport you to the medical era of Rome and when you are not pretending to be somebody from the 17th century, you can take a stroll and enjoy the cute Italian cafes, that everybody loves.

The second entry from the country Spain in today's list is Barcelona, a city known for its beaches as well as mountains. It's a well-loved city for its thriving cultural, arts, sports, and food scene. The city is also known for its cultural scenery and also for its landscapes. The architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner in Barcelona are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city sees more than 27 million visitors every year. 

10. London, United Kingdom

The capital of the United Kingdom, London has always been a very popular destination for tourists because of its rich history and architecture. The city is home to famous attractions like Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Hyde Park and more. The city also houses many historical landmarks including Tate Modern, British Museum as well as the Tower Bridge.  With its stunning architecture and rich history, London is almost on everybody's list of cities to visit at least once in their lifetime.
