Electric cars are more cost-effective, quieter, and more feature-rich than their ICE counterparts, apart from being more environmentally friendly. With 2022 being a slow year for EVs with long waiting times, things have turned around for this year and 2024 with better production and new, bigger, better EV models being offered to customers. Currently over two dozen automakers offer over 40 full-electric models boasting unique high-tech features. Here’s a look at the top 10 of the most impressive EVs of 2023-24.
1. 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6: Starting price $41,600
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan is an EV that combines a long driving range with eye-catching looks, lots of features, and an attractive price. It comes with either rear- or. all-wheel drive and a choice of two battery packs, with the larger option providing an EPA-estimated driving range of 361 miles as per its website. It was designed to be the most aerodynamic electric offering of Hyundai. The base model makes 149 horsepower and the expensive one has a 320-hp dual-motor which goes to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds.
2. Ford F-150 Lightning: Starting price $49,995
The F-150 Lightning delivers everything that the regular F-150 but it's different underneath. All models feature two electric motors with one or two battery pack options. The Extended-Range battery and powertrain make 580 hp, which propels the vehicle to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds. The EPA-estimated driving range is stated to be 320 miles on the Ford website. The motors combine to make 452 hp and the Extended-Range battery option comes with 580 horsepower. While the peak torque is 775 pound-feet with either setup.
3. BMW iX: Starting Price $91,800
The BMW iX is a mid-size SUV featuring two electric motors. The iX can deliver between 206 and 311 miles, based on the variant as per the official website. The two variants of the iX are the xDrive50, which is powered by a pair of electric motors offering 516 hp, and the high-performance variant, M60, which offers 610 hp with all drives being standard on both. While BMW has partnered with EVgo to provide a network of public charging stations, the iX can be charged on other popular networks, and through a Level 2 home charging station as well.

The Rivian R1T is one of the quickest electric trucks in America making about 835 hp going 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds, as per Rivian. It can further tow up to 11,000 pounds, and it offers a max DC fast charging rate of 220 kW. The R1T offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 410 miles. While the all-wheel drive is standard, the R1T comes in two different configurations, Dual-Motor and Quad-Motor offering 600 hp and 700 hp respectively.
5. Volvo XC40 Recharge: Starting price $53,550
The 2024 XC40 features an all-electric powertrain boasting up to 223 miles of estimated driving range as per its website. The base model of XC40 Recharge comes with a single, rear-mounted electric motor with 248 horsepower and the Twin Motor models come with two electric motors, a full-time all-wheel drive experience, and 402 hp, propelling it from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The single-motor models come with a 79.0-kWh battery pack and the twin-motor models boast a 75.0-kWh battery pack.
6. Chevrolet Bolt EUV: Starting price $27,800
The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV offers 247 miles of driving range with a 65.0-kWh battery pack. It has a 200 hp electric motor that drives only the front wheels as all-wheel drive isn't an option. As per Car and Driver, the car goes from 0 to 60 mph in a respectable 6.8 seconds. The Bolt EUV can be charged on a standard 120-volt household outlet, while the 240-volt connection will provide a quicker at-home charging time. It is also capable of DC fast charging, and as per Chevrolet, the Bolt EUV can provide up to 95 miles with 30 minutes of charge.
7. 2024 MINI Cooper SE: Starting price $30,900
The 2024 MINI Cooper SE comes with a front-wheel-drive option with a motor that makes 181 hp and 199 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a 28.9-kWh battery and as per the official website, the 228 hp JCW engine variant can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.9 seconds. It also has regenerative-braking modes which help provide a driving range of 110 miles on a full charge, as per Car and Driver. However, as per Mini the battery can be fast charged to 80 percent in 35 minutes and with a home AC charger of 7.4 kilowatts, the battery can be completely restored in four hours.
8. Lucid Air Grand Touring: Starting price $125,600
Tech startup Lucid is an emerging young brand, which offers its top-spec Grand Touring Performance in America. The luxuriously designed EV provides 819 hp with its dual-motor configuration, an all-wheel drive experience, and an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 516 miles per charge, thanks to its 112.0-kWh battery. The models of the car are powered by a dual electric motor powertrain, and Lucid claims the more powerful Performance version can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
9. Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Starting price $104,400
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is the crossover alternative to the company’s EQS luxury electric sedan. The SUV version offers several powertrains, with rear- and all-wheel drive options, and the top variant, the EQS580 boasts about 536 hp as per the official website. Along with 633 pound-feet of torque, the EQS580 can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The entry-level EQS450+ model offers a claimed range of 305 miles, and the all-wheel-drive EQS450 4Matic and EQS580 4Matic offer around 285 miles range.
10. 2023 Tesla Model Y: Starting price $47,490
The 2023 Tesla Model Y comes with a Standard Range rear-wheel drive and long-range all-wheel drive options. The car offers an estimated driving range of 330 miles as per Tesla. The performance model can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and offers a top speed of 155mph and a dedicated Track mode.
