At 1:30 PM ET, the S&P 500 Index and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively. However, the cannabis sector was down.

The US markets rose on optimism surrounding US-China trade talks. However, weakness in the cannabis sector led the cannabis ETFs trading in the red.

On September 16, Aurora Cannabis was trading at 7.26 Canadian dollars. Its stock has fallen 14.7% since it reported its fiscal 2019 fourth-quarter results.

In the wake of its regulatory scandals, the cannabis sector lagged the equity market in August. YTD, MJ and HMMJ have fallen 3.7% and 1.5%, respectively.
