Netflix signs on Janet Mock
Netflix (NFLX) has continued to recruit top talent and quality content producers. The video streaming giant just signed a deal with Janet Mock, the writer, producer, director of popular dance musical drama Pose.
Mock, the first black transgender women to sign on with a major studio, made a three-year multimillion dollar deal with Netflix, according to Variety. Netflix has consistently come out with quality content thanks to signing on major names such as Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy.
Acquiring top talent has been key to Netflix’s success
In a recent survey by Morgan Stanley, ~40% of 3,041 respondents rated Netflix’s original programming as the best among over-the-top services. Given the loyalty Netflix has gained, it seems unlikely Americans will give up their Netflix subscriptions, even in light of competition from the likes of Disney, Apple, NBCUniversal, and Time Warner. This loyalty could come in handy going forward, as it appears video-on-demand subscriptions may have plateaued last year.
Netflix stock has been moving sideways since spiking in January. However, it is still up 42.6% year-to-date.
