What to Expect from Frontier’s Q1 Revenues

Frontier Communications (FTR) is expected to report total revenues of $2.10 billion in the first quarter—a decrease of ~4.4% on a YoY (year-over-year) basis. Analysts expect the company’s sales to fall ~4.5% YoY to $8.23 billion in 2019, ~4.6% YoY to $7.85 billion in 2020, and ~3.6% YoY to $7.56 billion in 2021.

In the fourth quarter of 2018, Frontier Communications’ total revenues fell ~4.2% YoY to $2.12 billion, which was $36 million ahead of Thomson Reuters’ average consensus revenue expectation. The company’s voice services revenues fell ~2.8% YoY to $668 million, while the data and Internet services revenues rose ~2.1% YoY to $959 million. The video services revenues fell ~11.3% YoY to $275 million in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Peer comparison

Charter Communications’ (CHTR) revenues are expected to grow ~5.1% YoY to $11.2 billion in the first quarter. Comcast’s (CMCSA) revenues are expected to increase ~19.6% YoY to $27.3 billion. CenturyLink’s (CTL) revenues are expected to fall ~3.7% YoY to $5.7 billion in the first quarter.

Uber Technologies (UBER) has picked Melbourne as another test site for its flying taxi service known as UberAir. The Australian city is the first international test site Uber has chosen for its flying taxi service. The addition of Melbourne brings the number of test locations Uber has picked for its UberAir service to three.

Lyft (LYFT) and Uber Technologies (UBER) are pushing back against California legislation that would require them to recognize their drivers as employees rather than independent contractors. The legislation would require companies like Lyft to give their drivers the compensation and benefits spelled out under California’s employment regulations.
