Tableau bought back $30 million in stock in the fourth quarter

Tableau Software (DATA) has been buying back more stock, a positive sign. It has bought back $220 million in stock over the last three years. In the fourth quarter, it bought back 259,128 shares for $30 million, at an average price of $115.70 per share.

Tableau’s balance sheet and free cash flow are healthy

Tableau’s balance sheet is healthy, it has very little debt, and it holds over $1 billion in cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments. Despite falling 19% year-over-year to $134.3 million last year, Tableau’s free cash flow has stayed strong, meaning the company likely won’t need to depend on debt to grow.
