Potash prices continued to increase in the week ending October 19 at all four of the locations discussed below. Potash prices are strong, which benefits companies (XLB) like Nutrien (NTR), Mosiac (MOS), and Intrepid Potash (IPI).
The potash prices in both of the locations in the United States remained strong week-over-week. In the Cornbelt region of the US, the potash prices rose as much as 3.3% week-over-week to $284 per metric ton from $275 per metric ton the previous week. In the NOLA (New Orleans) region of the US, the potash prices rose as much as 3.25% week-over-week to $259 per metric ton from $251 per metric ton.
Outside the US, the potash prices in Brazil rose by 56 basis points week-over-week to $359 per metric ton. The potash prices in the South East Asia region remained flat week-over-week at $299 per metric ton.
YoY (year-over-year), the potash prices in each of the above locations have risen by double digits. In NOLA, the prices have risen 28% YoY from $202 per metric ton. In the Cornbelt region of the US, the prices have risen 22.3% YoY from $256 per metric ton. In Brazil, the prices have risen 30% YoY from $276 per metric ton. In South East Asia, the potash prices have risen 13% YoY from $264 per metric ton.
