Amazon is unveiling more Alexa-powered devices later this month
Amazon’s (AMZN) Alexa-powered Echo devices have become quite popular over the last few years. According to a report by CNBC, the tech giant is planning to unveil at least eight Alexa built-in or Alexa-enabled hardware devices in an event later this month. These devices include a subwoofer, an automotive gadget, an amplifier, and a microwave. These launches mean that Amazon will directly compete with third parties that use Alexa. As CNBC’s report points out, the Alexa-powered amplifier and subwoofer will be directly competing with Sonos (SONO).
Jeff Bezos is very bullish on Alexa
Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos, has said on numerous occasions that the company is very bullish on Alexa and is focused on making the technology ubiquitous. Automakers have already started incorporating Amazon’s digital assistant in their systems. Amazon has been promoting its smart speaker by offering discounts, especially on Prime Day.
Earlier this year, Amazon announced a partnership with Marriott International to make Amazon Echo available in rooms to assist guests. Smart speakers could be an integral part of smart homes in the future. To that end, Amazon completed the acquisition of a home-security company, Ring, for over $1 billion, earlier this year.
