Vanguard Group Takes Its Stake in Exelon to 7.8% in Q1 2018

Exelon (EXC) is the largest competitive utility in the country. The Vanguard Group added net 4.1 million shares of Exelon in the first quarter, which took its stake to 7.8%. It held 75.2 million shares of Exelon at the end of the first quarter.

The biggest competitive utility

Fidelity Management lowered its stake in Exelon from 6% in the fourth quarter to 5.6% in the first quarter. It sold net 4.3 million shares. Wellington Management Company added a noteworthy 7.4 million Exelon shares during the quarter.

BlackRock Institutional Trust added net 3.3 million shares of Exelon in the first quarter. With around 50.3 million shares, it has a 5.2% stake in the biggest competitive utility in the country as of March 31.

Exelon is the biggest utility by revenue. It has shown significant movement in the last few months. So far this year, the stock has risen marginally, while the broader utilities (XLU) (IDU) have fallen 3% year-to-date.
