In April, Schlumberger (SLB) announced a quarterly dividend of $0.50 per share to be paid in July. Schlumberger’s (SLB) quarterly dividend per share remained unchanged from Q1 2017 to Q1 2018.

Dividend yield compared with peers

At the end of the first quarter, SLB’s dividend yield was 3.1%. Halliburton’s (HAL) dividend yield was ~1.3%, and Core Laboratories’ (CLB) was ~1.9%.

Why dividend yield is so important

Dividend yield expresses shareholders’ returns by way of dividends. It can be used to compare a stock with other stocks in the industry. Schlumberger’s high dividend yield, coupled with its consistent dividend payout, indicates its attractiveness from a regular yield standpoint.
