Updates on various major economic indicators will be released this week. The indicators, which we’ll discuss next week, are as follows:
- the US (SPX-INDEX) (IWM) service PMI (purchasing managers’ index)
- the UK (EWU) service PMI
- Japan’s service PMI
- Germany’s (EWG) service PMI
- Spain’s service PMI
- France’s (EWQ) service PMI
- the Eurozone’s (EZU) (VGK) service PMI
Like manufacturing PMIs, service PMIs are important indicators for global investors. Service PMIs signal how service activities are trending in an economy.
Both developed and emerging nations’ manufacturing and service activities are important for investors. The iShares MSCI ACWI ETF (ACWI), which tracks global markets, rose 1% in December 2017. Global markets (VTI) and global-market-tracking ETFs depend on the performance of the above indicators. If these indicators continue to perform well, ACWI could rise.
