American International Group: New Chief Underwriting Officer

In the first week of December 2017, American International Group (AIG) made an announcement regarding the incoming chief underwriting officer of its General Insurance business. In January 2018, Tom Bolt will become AIG’s chief underwriting officer.

Strong track record

Peter Zaffino, chief executive officer of AIG’s General Insurance business, noted that Bolt has more than 30 years of experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry. Bolt has served in several senior executive roles during his career.

Bolt would be working closely with the company’s data and analytical capabilities in support of the company’s underwriting activities.

AIG’s book value per share is $80.62. Among its peers (XLF), Hartford Financial Services (HIG), Travelers Companies (TRV), and Aflac (AFL) posted book value per share figures of $48.20, $86.73, and $55.80, respectively.
