Amazon’s Data Center Expansion Plan in Europe Is Opportune

Earlier this month, to enhance its presence in the Nordic region, Amazon announced plans to add new data center facilities in Sweden in 2018. This announcement marks Amazon’s fifth cloud location in Europe. Amazon has data centers in Dublin, London (EWU), and Frankfurt (EWG), and expects one in France.

Nordic cities rank among top ten startup hubs in Europe

Another likely reason for Amazon’s focus on the Nordic region is Sweden’s ranking as a startup hub. Citing a European Startup Initiative survey, Slush shared that the Nordic region attracts foreign talent from all over Europe. The survey data suggests that, given an option, approximately 50% of startup founders from Nordic countries would choose either Stockholm or Berlin as their startup hub.
