Williams Companies’ total returns

Williams Companies (WMB) has underperformed the sector index, the Alerian MLP Index (^AMZ), and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) (SPX-INDEX) over the past three years in terms of total returns. WMB has returned -6% while AMZ and SPY have returned -4% and 11%, respectively, in the past three years. WMB’s underperformance is both due to a low dividend yield and a weak stock performance.
