Overall network performance of wireless companies in San Diego
We’ve already looked at the network performance of the top four wireless carriers in Denver and Orlando in 1H16. These players include Verizon (VZ), AT&T (T), T-Mobile (TMUS), and Sprint (S). In this part of the series, we’ll look at their network performance in the metro market of San Diego.
Based on RootMetrics’ 1H16 results for San Diego, T-Mobile’s position in the overall network performance metric improved two notches from 2H15. AT&T and Verizon shared first place with T-Mobile in 1H16. In 2H15, AT&T shared first place with Verizon. Sprint came in fourth in 1H16, the spot it held in 2H15.

Based on RootMetrics’ results for San Diego, Verizon got the top spot in the network speed performance parameter in 1H16. T-Mobile and AT&T shared second place. Sprint came in fourth. These four carriers retained their respective 2H15 spots.
For a diversified exposure to telecom companies in the United States, you can consider investing in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY). The ETF held a total of ~2.4% in some of the US telecom players at the end of December 2015.
