Fiscal 2016 expectations
For fiscal 2016, VMware expects revenue in the range of $6.8 billion to $6.9 billion while EPS is expected to be $4.16 per share. VMware guidance for 2016 failed to meet analyst expectations who were expecting revenue and EPS of $7.2 billion and $4.20 per share, respectively.
Investors who wish to gain broad-based exposure to VMware can consider investing in the iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF (IWF). IWF invests ~13% of its holdings in application software and ~0.04% of its holdings in VMW.
