Network performance of wireless carriers in Akron in 2H15
In the last parts of the series, we learned about Verizon’s (VZ) top spot in overall network performance in the Cleveland market, among the top four US wireless carriers, as per the RootMetrics results in 2H15. In this part, we’ll look at the relative network performance of the company in Akron in 2H15. Verizon’s press release on November 17, 2015, highlighted the top network performance of the carrier in the Akron market in 2H15.
Based on RootMetrics 2H15 Metro results for Akron, Verizon got the top spot in overall network performance among the top four US wireless carriers in this market. Note that in 1H15, Verizon had to share this top spot with AT&T (T).
As per these results, T-Mobile (TMUS) and Sprint (S)—the other two top US wireless players—shared the second place in overall network performance with AT&T in 2H15. Earlier in 1H15, Sprint and T-Mobile shared the third spot in this network performance metric for Akron.
Verizon’s network reliability in Akron in 2H15
All four carriers retained their respective 1H15 ranks in network reliability metrics in Akron in 2H15. Verizon shared the top spot in the network reliability metrics for Akron with AT&T. The third and fourth spots in the metric were held by Sprint and T-Mobile, respectively.
The iShares Dow Jones US Telecom ETF (IYZ) held ~10.8% in Verizon at the end of September 2015.
