TPG-Axon Capital Management LP is a privately owned $4 billion hedge fund firm. It was founded by Dinakar Singh in February 2005. It’s a partnership with Texas Pacific Group. Texas Pacific Group is a private equity firm. TPG-Axon Capital Management is based in New York. It has additional offices in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
The firm invests in public and private equity markets across the globe. It usually invests in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, technology, energy, basic materials, and retail.
TPG-Axon’s 2Q14 portfolio was worth $1.8 billion. It included 15 stocks. It was down from $2.08 billion and 18 stocks in the first quarter.
The fund traded notable positions in the second quarter. It initiated new stakes in Baidu Inc. (BIDU) and Monsanto Co. (MON). The fund also sold its shares in Halliburton Co. (HAL), FMC Corp. (FMC), and Citigroup Inc.(C). The fund decreased its position in Equinix (or EQIX) during 2Q14.
