What Oracle’s Leadership in B2B Commerce Suites Means
Oracle is a leader in B2B commerce suite
Earlier in this series, we discussed Oracle’s (ORCL) enhancement of its IoT cloud platform. In the week ended September 8, 2017, Oracle announced that it was positioned as a leader in Forrester’s B2B Commerce Suites for Midsize Organizations in 3Q17. In November 2016, Oracle spent $9.3 billion to strategically acquire NetSuite and get its hands on SuiteCommerce, an e-commerce offering.
Summarizing Oracle’s leadership, TheStreet reported, “Oracle’s NetSuite SuiteCommerce Advanced solution is a best-fit for mid-market B2B customers looking for an easily-configured, value-priced multi-tenant SaaS commerce suite that works seamlessly with NetSuite’s widely-deployed ERP solution.”

Digital commerce market could see increased M&A
According to a Wall Street Journal report citing Forrester Research, the US B2B (business-to-business) digital commerce market is expected to grow at a CAGR1 of 7.7%, from $780.0 billion in 2015 to $1.1 trillion in 2018.
The report also cited IDC (International Data Corporation), which estimated that the global market for digital commerce software would rise from $3.8 billion in 2016 to $5.0 billion by 2018.
The digital commerce space is expected to become a significant market in the near future. In our view, significant M&A (mergers and acquisitions) activity is expected to happen in this space.
