Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s fiscal 3Q17 earnings
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), a US (SPY) hardware technology (QQQ) company, is scheduled to announce its fiscal 3Q17 earnings on September 5. Analysts expect the company to post revenue of $7.51 billion for the quarter, which ended on July 31, with a high revenue estimate of $7.75 billion and a low estimate of $7.17 billion. If HPE meets analysts’ estimate of $7.51 billion, it would mean a year-over-year fall of 38.5% compared to revenue of $12.21 billion in fiscal 3Q16.

Non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) EPS (earnings per share) are estimated at $0.26 with a high estimate of $0.28 and a low estimate of $0.24. In fiscal 3Q16, HPE reported EPS of $0.49.
As you can see in the above graph, HPE beat analysts’ EPS estimates in two of the last four quarters. In fiscal 1Q17, it beat estimates by 2.3% with EPS of $0.45. It also beat earnings estimates by 8.9% in fiscal 3Q16.
How does HPE view fiscal 3Q17?
Hewlett Packard Enterprise expects its EPS to be more back end–loaded in fiscal 3Q17 and fiscal 4Q17, driven by M&A (mergers and acquisition) dilution and stranded costs. During its fiscal 2Q17 earnings call, management estimated EPS between $0.24 and $0.28 in fiscal 3Q17.
