Revenue of $12.3 billion in 3Q17?

Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), a US-based (SPY) consumer technology (QQQ) company, will be announcing its fiscal 3Q17 results on August 23, 2017. Analysts expect the company to post revenue of $12.3 billion for the quarter ended July 31, 2017, with a high revenue estimate of $12.9 billion and a low estimate of $11.9 billion. If Hewlett-Packard meets analysts’ estimate of $12.3 billion, it would mean a year-over-year rise of 3.3% compared to fiscal 3Q16.

Non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) EPS (earnings per share) is estimated at $0.42, with a high estimate of $0.45 and a low estimate of $0.41. In fiscal 3Q16, HPQ reported EPS of $0.48.

As you can see in the above graph, HPQ beat analysts’ EPS estimates in three of the last four quarters. In fiscal 2Q17, it beat estimates by 2.6% with EPS of $0.40. It also beat earnings estimates by 2.7% and 9.1% in fiscal 1Q17 and 3Q16, respectively, with EPS of $0.38 and $0.48, respectively.

How did HPQ perform in fiscal 2Q17?

Hewlett-Packard reported revenue of $12.4 billion in fiscal 2Q17, a year-over-year rise of 7.0% compared to fiscal 2Q16. EPS in fiscal 2Q17 was $0.40, which was at the higher end of HPQ’s guidance of $0.37–$0.40.
