The energy sector contributed to ~6.6% of the S&P 500 (SPY) (SPX-INDEX) on March 31, 2017. Oil and gas producers’ earnings such as ExxonMobil (XOM), Continental Resources (CLR), Matador Resources (MTDR), and SM Energy (SM) depend on crude oil (BNO) (DIG) (XES) and natural gas (UNG) (UGAZ) (DGAZ) prices.
