In December 2016, Trump named Carl Icahn as his special adviser on regulation. Carl Icahn said that he was surprised about his advisory role. Icahn shared his views about Trump’s inauguration speech and Trump’s proposed agenda in an interview with CNBC.

Icahn said after the inauguration that Trump’s speech indicates an extremely strong economic environment (VFINX) (IWM) ahead. According to him, the future will be more competitive. He believes that changes in various trade policies and business policies will bring change for the economy (IVV).

Icahn has been a great supporter of Donald Trump since his election campaign. He is very bullish about Trump’s economic agenda including his proposed infrastructure plan and his tax restructuring plans. Less regulation could also be a welcome step for various businesses. If the US lightens businesses regulation, it could encourage other nations to do the same. Less regulation could also bring a more competitive environment for the future.

In the next part of this series, we’ll analyze Carl Icahn’s view on the market after Donald Trump’s win.
