Will Rig Counts Affect WFT’s 3Q16 International Revenues?

In the past year, Weatherford International’s (WFT) revenue share generated outside the United States rose. WFT’s revenue from the international geographies increased to 69% of its total revenues in 2Q16 compared to 63.4% in 2Q15. By comparison, Halliburton’s (HAL) 2Q16 revenues from its international operations, in aggregate, rose to 60% of its total revenues compared to 55% a year ago.

International rig count
By September 30, international rig counts fell 18% from a year ago. This fall was less than the US rig count fall, which nearly halved in the past year as of October 7. WFT is 0.05% of the iShares Russell Mid-Cap ETF (IWR). The energy sector makes up 6.4% of IWR.
