The Vanguard Utilities ETF (VPU) tracks the MSCI US Investible Utilities Index. VPU’s structure differs from that of the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLU). XLU’s portfolio primarily invests in the S&P 500 Utilities stocks while VPU’s holdings go way beyond the S&P 500 Utility index. XLU’s portfolio has 32 stocks, while VPU invests in 80 stocks.
