A steakhouse menu

In the last part of this series, we briefly covered Texas Roadhouse’s (TXRH) menu. Let’s look at it in more detail in this article. TXRH is primarily a steakhouse, meaning it specializes in different kinds of steak for its customers. Below is a list of stock items available at TXRH and other restaurant chains offering similar menus.

The list of steaks includes

  • USDA choice sirloin
  • New York strip
  • Fort Worth ribeye
  • bone-in ribeye
  • porterhouse T-bone
  • Dallas filet
  • filet medallions
  • prime rib
  • “Roadkill”

But it also serves…

Apart from steaks, TXRH also serves starters, salads, chicken specialties such as oven-roasted and grilled barbecue chicken, pork items such as pulled pork, seafood such as salmon and shrimp, sides such as mashed potato and chili, sandwiches and burgers, kids meals, and desserts.

Companies with similar menu

TXRH competes with other popular chains serving similar menus—for example, Outback Steakhouse under the umbrella of Bloomin’ Brands (BLMN), Longhorn Steakhouse under the umbrella of Darden Restaurants (DRI), and The Cheesecake Factory (CAKE).

If you’re interested in a broader portfolio of restaurants, you may consider the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY).

Higher-quality food

TXRH is a full-service casual dining restaurant. Casual dining restaurants usually prepare food fresh every day, which leads to a higher quality. But TXRH goes a step further. The company states that it provides better quality by focusing on dinner, with only one-third of restaurants offering lunch on Friday. The company also stated that it keeps the table-to-server ratio low, further ensuring a quality experience.

TXRH has taken several other initiatives to achieve higher quality, which we’ll discuss in more detail in the next part of this series.
